Building permits are required for new residences, repairs and/or alterations to existing homes, including new decks and porches, roof replacement/ installation, storage buildings, garages and sheds, swimming pools, demolition of an existing structure, new 911#s, and various other installations. Please call the Clerk or Code Enforcement Officer for details. Contractors must provide proof of Workman's Comp and Liability insurance with the Town of Olean as the Certificate Holder. Homeowners doing work themselves should verify with their homeowners insurance that they have the appropriate insurance riders to cover the work being done.
