Tax scam alert: Text messages pretending to be from official state tax and revenue agencies
Scammers are sending phishing text messages to taxpayers about income tax refunds. The Tax Department does not use text messages, email, or social media to request personal tax information.
To help spread awareness and safeguard sensitive information, please share this with your family and friends.
What this scam looks like
These text messages request accurate payment information, supposedly so tax and revenue agencies can deposit money into taxpayers' bank accounts.
What to do if you receive a text like this
If you receive a text message that appears to be from the New York State Tax Department:
block the sender,
delete the message, and
report this scam to the Tax Department or IRS.

LEGAL NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON THE BUDGET
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Proposed Budget of the Cuba Joint Fire District of the Town of
Cuba, State of New York, will be presented to the Board of Fire Commissions of the Cuba Joint fire
District, for its consideration.
A PUBLIC HEARING will be held at 6:45 P.M. at the Cuba AA Arnold Center, Cuba, New York
14727, in the Town of Cuba, State of New York on October 21 st 2025.
Pursuant to Town Law 181.3(a), the Board of Fire Commissioners must hold a public hearing on
the budget, make the proposed budget available to the public prior to the public hearing, allow the
public to comment on the budget at public hearing. This public hearing must be held to allow maximum
public participation in the hearing.
The purpose of the public hearing is to allow any person to be heard in favor of or against the
proposed budget as it is submitted, or for or against any item or items contained in the proposed
budget, and hearing all persons interested in the subject concerning same.
That a copy of the proposed budget is available at the Office of the Town Clerk of the Town of
Cuba 15 Water St and Fire District Secretary at 54 East Main St. where it may be inspected by any
interested person during office hours.
